Competitive Program

Philosophy

We believe that gymnastics should be a positive experience in children's lives and that through it, they may get to know more about themselves and, about life in general and about the challenges that come with it.

Each gymnast is ultimately responsible for her success ,involvement and progress in gymnastics. We assist each gymnast to reach their maximumcompetitive team potential, recognizing that only a selected few will ultimately have the capability to achieve the highest competitive levels. Long term emotional and physical development of a "gymnast" should not be jeopardized for short-term gain, We do not support the "winning -at-all-cost" approach . "Success is measured not so much by the position that one reaches in life, but by that which has been overcome while trying to succeed."

Objectives

One of the goals of White Rock Gymnastics is to identify and develop future competitive athletes .

As such, SEASTARS ( name of competitive group) aims at detecting young talented girls who demonstrate above average pre-disposition, ability and drive to pursue excellence in competitive women's gymnastics.

Eligibility for Pre-competitive Program

     -No experience is required.

-Young girls between five and eight years old who demonstrate a desire for movement /dance/acrobatics,who seem to be afraid of nothing, have boundless energy and tend to be good students.

-Children who are reserved, apprehensive for their age or not athletically inclined are not suited for the pre-competitive program. If selected, the child’s family must be prepared for a long-term commitment to the sport of gymnastics and must be willing to understand the requirements of a gymnastics program ( varying schedules ,eventual travel to competitions, associated costs.)

Women’s Competitive Program

-The Program is comprised of streams of competition based on levels of difficulty ,ability and attainment.

-The top stream is a very high level of excellence and it is known as High Performance or Elite Level.

-We follow the Canadian Provincial Program and Canadian model of FIG ( International Gymnastics Federation)

-Our pre-competitive and Provincial Level athletes train all year round and the competition season starts in December/January and ends in May. There are many Invitational competitions which are held before or after the dates mentioned.
